Wood Pellet - Wood Chip Query

.

Has anyone any advice for this guy???

glendac has left a new comment on your post "Wood Pellet Prices & SEI Grants Addendum":

My father was advised to install a wood chip burner in his new house. he was advised that it would be economical. he is now using 2 tonne of pelletsa month to heat a 6,000 sq ft house. Common sense would dictate that this cannot be right but the supplier has been out and looked at the product and says it is working perfectly.

Can anyone advise how we can go about trying to prove that we have been duped.

Simple to solve this question really.
If the house isn't new, what fuel did it require to heat it before the wood chip boiler was installed? Compare the energy value of both fuels? (taking into consideration the stated boiler efficiencies )
If the house was new built, have an energy audit done to assess heat energy requirements, and see how this compares with the energy usage. If the former is very low compared to the latter, the system isn't working properly ( note: system includes circulation system, not just boiler)
